Detailed description of Raven Golf Club At Three Peaks

Raven Golf Club At Three Peaks, previously named Eagles Nest Golf Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Silverthorne, Colorado.

The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks first opened for play September 2000. The par 72 course was designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Tom Lehman.

Raven Golf Club fills the senses with Colorado's mountain beauty. The Raven is located in the majestic Gore Mountain Range and offers panoramic vistas at every turn. Stretching from 5235 to 7413 yards, the Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks offers a challenge for golfers of all abilities. The Raven Golf Club offers an appealing blend of traditional and contemporary architectural design styles. One feature of the golf course that is unique is the design of the bunkers. Patterned after golf course architect Alister Mackenzie's style, native grasses frame the bunkers and offer a dramatic visual contrast to the fairways. While they may look intimidating, the bunkers are placed as guide posts to show the golfer the way or to save errant shots. Public play is allowed seven days a week. The first two hours of tee times Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are reserved for members only.

Black Tees: 7,413 yards, course rating 74.2, slope rating 146.

Silver Tees: 6,806 yards, course rating 71.4, slope rating 136.

White Tees: 6,386 yards, course rating 70.0, slope rating 130.

Gold Tees: 5,235 yards, course rating 65.3, slope rating 117.

Manager's attitude is golfers are a nuisance. Go play Keystone River and make both him and yourself much happier.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Better courses for less nearby, Worse than average course for the area

Worst condition in years - bunkers all mud with grass growing, still winter kill on greens (in September??), cart paths crumbling - new owners not paying attention

Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Better courses for less nearby

The Raven at Three Peaks is a stunning course. If just for the views of the snow capped mountains (yes, even in August). It is challenging but not mean although if your driver doesn't hit the fairway, you better get out a compass and a box lunch to head off and find your ball. Off the fairway is not a fun place to be. I suggest hitting a three wood if your driver is not behaving.3 The staff is great and the rangers (aka players assistants) are helpful and fun. I think this is the best course in Summit County.

True mountain course layout and playing style. There are a lot of undulations on the greens and tough lies in the fairways. Course is in good shape overall, but it's a give and take course based on the bounce and lie you get from hole to hole. Greens had a couple rough spots, but I believe it was due to recent rain storms.

Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Under new ownership in 2009 The Raven at Three Peaks chose to market an "all inclusive" rate. Usually about $140+ incl cart, food and non-alcoholic bevs. I don't think this was very success in this tough economy. And few good deals were offered to locals. The golf course is super. I just hope the new owners become more aware of the need for some more realistic rates especially for the locals.
